Signs Your Andersen Glass Railing Systems Is Failing
- Glass panel rattles when the wind gusts from the east. The rubber gasket inside the base shoe has compressed and lost its grip. Over time in Delray Beach, the daily thermal expansion of the aluminum shoe against the glass wears the gasket flat, and the panel starts chattering.

What we would not recommend doing yourself is pulling a tempered glass panel out of a shoe that has lost its gasket or attempting to re-anchor a railing post into a concrete deck. Tempered glass carries a lot of internal stress. If it is handled at the wrong angle or against a hard edge, it fails explosively, and the fragments are not something you want at eye level. The same goes for any re-anchoring work, which requires proper embedment depth and an epoxy rated for outdoor salt exposure, not the tube of construction adhesive sitting in your garage.
