Signs Your Jeld-Wen Glass Railing System Is Failing
- Hairline crack radiating from a clamp or shoe. This is almost always a stress crack from a fitting that was torqued too tight at install, then had years of thermal expansion working against it. Once the crack reaches six inches, the panel needs to come out.
- Glass that rattles in the wind. The rubber gaskets inside the aluminum shoes dry out in South Florida heat. When they shrink, the panel sits loose. Left alone, the edges chip.
