Jeld-Wen Window Replacement: The Delray Beach Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Jeld-Wen-compatible replacement windows and parts throughout Delray Beach, with most installed jobs running between $400 and $1,800 depending on the window type and frame condition. A single failed sash or balance usually runs $180 to $450 installed, and we carry the common Jeld-Wen components on the truck so the fix often happens in one visit. Most Delray Beach homeowners discover the failure the way you probably did: a window that suddenly drops when opened, a sash that will not stay up, fog between the panes, or a crank that spins without moving the window. The part that fails first on a Jeld-Wen in our climate is almost always the balance system or the seal, not the glass.

Which Jeld-Wen Models This Applies To

Jeld-Wen has built windows under a lot of names over the years, and the parts are not always interchangeable. We work on the full range we see in Delray Beach homes: the Premium and Builders series vinyl windows, the Siteline and Auraline wood and clad-wood lines, the V-2500 and V-4500 vinyl series, and the older Pozzi and Caradco windows that Jeld-Wen absorbed years ago. The fastest way to identify your window is to check the top edge of the sash or the frame corner for an etched label with a serial number and series code. If that label is gone, which happens often with sea air and sun exposure, measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest sixteenth of an inch and bring us a photo of the balance shoe or hinge. We will match it. On Jeld-Wen specifically, the balance shoe design changed between the early 2000s and mid-2010s production runs, so two windows that look identical from the outside may take different internal hardware. We carry OEM Jeld-Wen parts where they are still available and quality aftermarket equivalents where the OEM part has been discontinued or was a known weak point. We will tell you which is which and price both on paper before any work starts.

Signs Your Jeld-Wen Window Replacement Is Failing

Most failures announce themselves in one of six ways. Here is what each one tells us about the part that needs replacing:

  • The sash drops or slams shut when you raise it. This is a failed balance, not a failed window. On Jeld-Wen vinyl units, the block-and-tackle balance or spiral balance wears out, and the window loses its counterweight. The fix is a balance replacement, not a full window swap.
  • Fog or haze between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed, usually from years of Delray Beach heat cycling expanding and contracting the seal material. Once moisture is inside the unit, it cannot be cleaned off, and the glass assembly needs replacement.
  • A crank handle spins freely. On Jeld-Wen casement and awning windows, the operator gear inside the crank mechanism strips. The part is replaceable, and we stock the common Jeld-Wen operator sizes.
  • The window sticks or binds when opening. This can be a worn roller on a slider, a warped sash from humidity, or a frame that has settled out of square. The fix depends on the cause, and measuring the opening tells us which one it is.
  • Drafts or visible light at the weatherstripping. The weatherstrip bulb or fin seal has compressed and is no longer sealing. In Delray Beach’s humidity, a failed seal shows up quickly as condensation streaks on the interior glass edge.
  • Visible corrosion on the frame or hardware. Coastal salt air eats at uncoated hardware fast. We see Jeld-Wen windows a few blocks off A1A that need new locks, hinges, or lift rails while the glass itself is still fine.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Job Typical Delray Beach Installed Price
Single balance replacement $120 – $200
Full sash replacement (vinyl, standard size) $300 – $600
Insulated glass unit replacement $250 – $700 per pane, depending on size and glass package
Crank operator replacement $110 – $180
Full window replacement (mid-size, standard install) $800 – $1,800
Impact-rated Jeld-Wen replacement window $1,200 – $2,500 installed, including permitting

The spread in these numbers comes down to three things: the window’s size, whether the frame itself is sound or needs repair work, and whether you are replacing a part or the whole unit. We price the part and the labor as separate line items so you see exactly what you are paying for. Both warranty layers, the manufacturer’s and our Done Right Promise, get registered in writing before we leave the driveway. If the pane is not true, the job is not done, and we will be back to fix it without a paperwork fight.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things you can check safely before calling. Look at the top edge of the sash for a serial label. Take clear photos of the balance shoe, hinge, or operator from both sides. Remove the sash only if it lifts out cleanly, which most Jeld-Wen single-hungs and double-hungs do. Do not force a vinyl sash out of a warped frame, and do not attempt to remove a glass unit from the frame on your own. The glass is under stress, the frame tolerances are tight, and a cracked or mis-set unit turns a $300 repair into a $1,200 replacement. If the part involves a coiled spiral balance under tension, leave it in place and call us. A balance that lets go under load can take a finger with it. For everything else, we are at (561) 940-2917, and the estimate is free.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."
